Visual Guide: Exporting a List

To export a reference list formatted according to the style of your choice, scroll down to the Export list box that appears at the end of your list.

Choose whether to export your list to a Microsoft Word document, or to an HTML page.

Choose the style of your list.

Check the DOI and/or the URL boxes if you would like your list to display record DOIs/URLs.
If a record has both a DOI and a URL and both boxes are checked, only the DOI will be displayed.

Click the GO button.

Your formatted reference list will now appear in a new Word document or HTML page (based on your previous choice) in Times New Roman Font 12.

Simply copy-paste your exported reference list into your paper.
To copy your reference list: Select all of the text in your exported list by pressing CTRL+A on your keyboard > copy it by pressing CTRL+C.
To paste your reference list: In your paper, move the cursor to the desired paste location > click the mouse button > press CTRL+V.
* Please note that due to limitations inherent to HTML code, when copy-pasting text from HTML to Word documents, the font size is automatically reduced to 9, and needs to be set back to the desired size (usually 12).

Useful Tip:

• Sometimes scholars may vary the way they display their name between different publications. For example, sometimes a scholar will opt to include a middle initial, and other times will not.
  To change the way an author's name is displayed in a record before you export your list, click on the edit icon at the right of the record. In the Edit Record form that opens up, choose the preferred display option, and click on the Edit button.
