Visual Guide: Performing an Advanced Search
Complete a simple but focused search form, and then click on the Search button.

In the Search term/s field, you can use AND, NOT, & OR to carry out a Boolean search.

Within records, you can limit your search to certain fields, by checking the box next to the desired field.

You can also limit your search to certain types of records, by checking the box/es next to the desired source type/s.

Limit your search to a specific year range, by typing the start and end years in the From and To fields.
If the box next to Forthcoming is checked, the search will include sources still in press.

Widiem enables you to limit your search to your lists only, or to sources with external links only, and to filter out those journal items which are clearly not research articles.

Finally, decide whether to sort your results by Date Ascending or Date Descending.
Within the order you choose, results will also be ordered by relevance.

You can also sort your results once in the Search Results page.

The Widiem database is extensively cross-referenced, helping you locate pinpointed results. Click on any name, journal, edited book, or publisher — all highlighted for your convenience.

You may add some or all of the results showing on a given results page (i.e. up to 20 records at a time) to a new or existing list.
To do so: Check the box/es next to the desired record/s, or check the box above the search results table to select all of the records > hover over the Checked Items dropdown icon > scroll down to Add to and click on the desired list to add the selected records to an existing list, or click Create new to add them to a new list. (See also the Visual Guide on Creating a new List.)

You may also remove results from an existing list. These records are easily identifiable by the List TAG shown at the end of the record.
To do so: Check the box/es next to the record/s you wish to remove > hover over the Checked Items dropdown icon > scroll down to Remove from and click on the relevant list.
