Visual Guide: Adding a New Record
1. In the top left corner of any of your List pages, you will notice a box titled Add new record: Click on the Record Type dropdown menu > click on the desired record type > click on the Number of Authors (or Editors) dropdown menu that now appears > click on the desired number of authors (editors) > click GO.

Fill out the record's details in the concise form that now appears > check the box next to the list/s in which you would like the record to be included (if any) > click Add to save the record, or click Clear to begin over.

2. You can also add a new record from any Scholar, Journal, or Publisher page. At both the top and bottom of any of these pages, you will notice a box titled Add one more record by same person / journal / publisher. Choose the relevant options from the dropdown menus, and click GO.

Fill out the record's details in the concise form that now appears > check the box next to the list/s in which you would like the record to be included (if any) > click Add to save the record, or click Clear to begin over.

Additional Notes:
- Required vs. optional fields: Optional fields are indicated either in the field name or within the input field. All other fields are required.

Choose Author fields: Begin typing the author's name. If the desired author's name appears in the autosuggest list, click on it. If not, complete typing the name.
The order of the name may be entered either as Last, First M. or First M. Last.

Exact Name Feed: In the case of complicated names that you are unsure how to enter, use the Exact Name Feed form to enter the author's name.
To do so: click on the Exact Name Feed button > enter the author's details in the form that now appears > click Add.

Modifying author details: If the wrong author was chosen from the auto suggest list, click the Clear Author button that appears to its right, and
either choose the correct name, or enter a new name not in the list.
If you initially entered the wrong number of authors and would now like to add an author, click + Author. If you would like to reduce the number of authors,
click - Author.
- Autosuggest fields: Many of the form fields are autosuggest-enabled, saving you time otherwise wasted on typing and verifying correct entry. Begin typing the name of the Author, Editor, Journal, Book, Edited Book, Publisher, Institution, University, or Newspaper / Magazine in their respective fields. If the desired name appears in the autosuggest list, click on it. If not, complete typing the name. Once entered, it will pop up in the autosuggest next time you enter a record.
- Include in lists: Note that if you add a new record through the Add new record box in your list, that list will be selected by default. However, if you add a new record through a Scholar, Journal, or Publisher page, no list will be selected. If you forgot to select a list, simply check the box next to the record, which now appears on the same Scholar, Journal, or Publisher page, and add it to the desired list using the Checked Items dropdown icon.
